Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt are locked into two of the three starting positions along Pittsburgh’s defensive front. The Steelers need a third guy to step up and replace Javon Hargrave at nose tackle.

Curiously, it could be a former Raven that does the trick for Tomlin and his staff. The Steelers gave up a seventh-round pick to take a flier on Wormley. The former third-round pick never lived up to his draft hype in Baltimore, but he’s just the sort of big body that Tomlin wants to plug up the middle of his defensive line.

Wormley isn’t a player who is going to put up massive stats. He lacks the athleticism required to rush the passer from the nose tackle position. Wormley isn’t going to knife into the backfield to take down opposing ball carriers very often either.

Instead, the key for him will be to keep the middle of the field clogged for the Steelers defense. Heyward, Tuitt and the team’s star-studded linebacker corps can make all of the big plays. Wormley just needs to keep the middle of the opponents’ offensive line busy. If he does, this defense won’t miss a beat despite losing Hargrave in free agency.
