4. Home vs. Washington Redskins

In 2018, the Arizona Cardinals finished with an NFL-worst 3-13 record and earned the first overall pick in the draft.  This past season, the Washington Redskins won only 3 games and wound up with the second pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Led by new head coach Ron Rivera, the club opted for Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, arguably the best pass rusher in the country this past year.

So when these teams collide in Arizona this season, it will be interesting to see if the team’s offensive front is prepared to block not only Young but Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat and veteran Ryan Kerrigan in coordinator Jack Del Rio’s 4-3 scheme. This offseason, general manager Steve Keim opted to bring back former first-round draft choice D.J. Humphries, who has had his ups and downs at the tackle spots during his five seasons.

A year ago, the Cardinals’ offense was drastically improved thanks to rookie quarterback Kyler Murray, running back Kenyan Drake and the usual-steady play from Larry Fitzgerald. Now the team has added wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins via a trade from the Houston Texans. More importantly, can Kingsbury’s club improve when it comes to pass-blocking after allowing 50 sacks in 2019?
