2. Home vs. Seattle Seahawks

It’s one of the odder series in the NFL and it’s been owned by the road team in recent years. It may surprise some to know that dating back to 2013, the Arizona Cardinals own a 5-2 record in the Pacific Northwest. That includes this past season’s 27-13 surprise of Pete Carroll’s playoff-bound Seahawks as running back Kenyan Drake ran through the Seattle defense for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. All told, Arizona rolled up 253 yards on the ground against the struggling ‘Hawks’ defense.

But there’s another side to the story. In 2012, Seattle used a third-round pick on quarterback Russell Wilson. His first regular-season appearance was a Week 1 start at Arizona and the Seahawks would come up short, 20-16. That would be the last time the Cardinals would beat Carroll’s team in the desert. All told, the club is 0-6-1 in last seven home games in this series.

If Kliff Kingsbury’s squad is to escape the NFC West basement and make a serious postseason push, they have to be far more competitive against their rivals. The Cardinals were a combined 1-5 vs. division foes this past season. Holding serve vs. the Seahawks would be a major step in the right direction.
