Tom Brady and Drew Brees will face each other right out of the gate in the 2020 NFL season.

If you were wondering how long the wait would be for Tom Brady to meet Drew Brees in an NFC South rivalry game, the answer is not long.

According to Saints beat writer Nick Underhill, the Bucs will be in New Orleans Week 1 which means Tom Brady will start his career in Tampa against Drew Brees.

It’ll be just the fourth time in their careers that Brady and Brees have met, and Bucs fans are hoping the one-sided nature of the matchup continues. Brady posted a 2-1 record against the Saints since Brees took over at quarterback. You have to go all the way back to 2009 to find the last time Brady lost to Brees, and it’s the first time since 2017 that they’ll have met.

Brady has played the Saints just five times in his career, and has only been to the Superdome twice. Of course, that’s only counting the times he’s been there to play the Saints; the mythology of Brady was born on the bayou back in 2002 when he won his first of six Super Bowls against the Rams in New Orleans.

The game is slated to be a 4:25 pm ET start, which means it’ll be on FOX and it’ll likely have Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth. If you wanted to kick off this upcoming NFL season with a Game of The Week, Brady vs. Brees is a helluva way to start.
