The Denver Broncos may finally have a franchise quarterback in Drew Lock and he will be put to the test against a competitive schedule.

It has been a bit of a journey for the Denver Broncos to find their next quarterback, but it looks like Drew Lock has a great shot to be the guy. Lock, a second-round pick in 2019, got the starting job late in the season and looked very impressive in a limited sample size.

The Broncos have done the smart thing and committed to building around Lock for the foreseeable future, which was clearly the priority for John Elway at the 2020 NFL Draft. Elway nabbed a couple of weapons for Lock right away, snagging wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler with Denver’s first two picks.

The thing that made those players good fits for the Broncos was that their skill sets perfectly complement each other. Jeudy is a distinguished route runner and Hamler offers speed as a prototypical slot receiver, which works nicely with existing no. 1 Cortland Sutton’s game-breaking potential.

The key to Denver’s season in 2020 will be Lock’s development. The Broncos have to be encouraged with how well Lock played at the end of the 2019 campaign, but he will have to maintain that performance over the course of a full season to give Denver a chance of returning to the playoffs.

Denver will have to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders in must-see AFC West matchups. Games against the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers should also be interesting to watch for the Broncos in 2020.

When the full 2020 NFL schedule is released this post will be updated immediately with game dates, times, and broadcast information. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the home and road opponents for the Broncos in 2020.
