Miami Dolphins: vs. New York Jets

No team in the NFL made as dramatic a transformation from the beginning of the season to the end than the Miami Dolphins did. The front office decided to strip down the team prior to the start of the season, dealing key personnel like Laremy Tunsil, Kenny Stills, and Minkah Fitzpatrick for draft picks.

The roster was clearly designed to tank for a franchise quarterback and it looked like Miami would easily accomplish that task early. The Dolphins were routinely blown out early in the season, but to their credit, the players did not quit.

Head coach Brian Flores installed a strong culture in the locker room and Miami ended up winning five games, including a season-ending upset in New England that undoubtedly altered the course of the NFL playoffs. The Dolphins have been actively importing talent in the offseason and should still have enough ammunition to end up with the quarterback they want in the draft.

The departure of Tom Brady from New England opens up the division so there are plenty of Dolphins’ fans who are dreaming of a worst-to-first run this season. That is certainly a realistic goal if Miami picks the right quarterback, but the first step towards it is taking care of business against the New York Jets.

The two bitter rivals split their meetings last season, with Miami scoring its first win of the year against the Jets at home. Duplicating the feat this season would be a good first step towards getting back into the postseason for the Dolphins.
