Full NFL schedule 2020: Picks and predictions for every game
AFC playoffs
For the first time, seven teams get into the playoffs for each conference. Under the new format, only the top seed gets a bye, and in this scenario, it’s the Chiefs enjoying a week off before hosting the AFC Divisional round at Arrowhead Stadium.
As for the rest of the AFC, the divisions are evenly represented, save for the East, which only gets the Bills. Denver makes its first postseason appearance since winning Super Bowl 50 in 2015, while the Colts win the division behind Philip Rivers. The Titans sneak in once again as the lowest seed and get a date with the Ravens.
Here’s how it all shakes out one more time…
1. Kansas City Chiefs (13-3)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5)
3. Buffalo Bills (10-6)
4. Indianapolis Colts (9-7)
5. Baltimore Ravens (10-6)
6. Denver Broncos (9-7)
7. Tennessee Titans (9-7)
AFC Wild Card round
This time, Baltimore handled business. Indianapolis is a good team, but the Ravens are significantly better and have much to prove. Buffalo hosts its first playoff game since 1995 and takes care of the Broncos, who have a bright future with a talented, young offense in place.
Finally, the Steelers roll at Heinz Field, largely because Ben Roethlisberger outdoes Ryan Tannehill who is capable, but not on the same level.
AFC Divisional round
This would be an amazing weekend of AFC football. The Chiefs and Ravens are arguably the two best teams in football, and Kansas City does just enough with Patrick Mahomes to keep Lamar Jackson and Co. at bay.
Meanwhile, a defensive struggle in Pittsburgh, with two top defenses slugging it out.
AFC Championship Game
Pittsburgh is a tough out and matches up well with Kansas City. It can get pressure with four, has Minkah Fitzpatrick to cover Travis Kelce and a great offensive line capable of sustaining a ground attack.
Yet, we saw this in Super Bowl LIV with the 49ers. Eventually, Mahomes takes over, and the other team goes home.
