BYE WEEK: NONE

Game of the Week: Minnesota Vikings at Indianapolis Colts

Are the Vikings the same team they were a year ago? What appears to be a solid draft may go a long way towards replacing the star-power lost this offseason, but the true test is when Minnesota meets up with another quality opponent.

The Vikings were able to win 10 games last year and shock the Saints in the NFC Wild Card round before losing to the 49ers the following weekend. Meanwhile, the Colts were 5-2 and rolling before injuries ravaged their campaign. Now with Philip Rivers under center and DeForest Buckner anchoring the defensive line, they’re even stronger.

For Minnesota, the battle for the NFC North ramps up again. The Vikings still need to win by the same formula as recent years. Run the ball with Dalvin Cook, hit a couple of big passing plays and play terrific defense. Is that enough to dethrone the Packers? It wasn’t last year, with Green Bay sweeping the season series and taking the division.

As for the Colts, winning a tough home game like this early sets the tone in a wide-open AFC South.
