Final record: 7-9

Even with a rookie quarterback at the helm for nearly all of the season, the Chargers still have enough talent and potential to make it an interesting season for their fans.

As the season goes on, Los Angeles has to believe it’ll see progress from Herbert provided he eventually wins the job over Tyrod Taylor.  Regardless of what happens on the offensive side of the football, the Chargers boast a legitimately elite NFL defense that, when healthy, will challenge even the very best offenses on its schedule.

The defensive playmakers will keep the Bolts in a lot of games that very few expect them to be, and the difference between a good season and a bad season hinges on the ability of the offense to take advantage of opportunities gifted to them.

The Chargers aren’t ready to challenge Kansas City for the division, or contend in the AFC playoffs again, but they also are not on of the worst teams in football.
