Washington Redskins 2020 schedule predictions: Picking every game

The Washington Redskins schedule has some winnable games for Ron Rivera in his first season in D.C. especially if Dwayne Haskins takes a big step forward.

A year ago, the Washington Redskins got off to a 0-5 start, fired Jay Gruden, promoted Bill Callahan to interim head coach and wound up finishing 3-13. Now former Carolina Panthers’ sideline boss Ron Rivera is the latest hire by Daniel Snyder. This is a team that has struggled within the division lately, going 3-15 vs. their NFC East rival since 2017 – including 0-6 in ‘19. So how will the team fare on a game-by-game basis in 2020?

Weeks 1-4

Twice last season, the Redskins put up exactly 27 points against the eventual NFC East champions and wound up losing in both instances. But look for a low-scoring affair this time around. A late sack by Jonathan Allen and a fumble by Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz seals the deal for Ron Rivera’s improving club.

The last time the Redskins visited the desert, the team came away with a 24-6 win on opening day of 2018. But that was a much different Arizona team and these days the club is led by quarterback Kyler Murray, the ’19 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and head coach Kliff Kingsbury. The Cardinals’ offense is primed for a big outing.

Washington makes its way to Cleveland for the first time since 2012 looks to continue its recent success in this series. The Redskins have won the last three meetings between the clubs but that string of success figures to come to an end against an explosive Browns’ attack now under the guidance of new head coach Kevin Stefanski.

It’s just the seventh regular-season meeting between these local rivals. And the Redskins are hosting the series for the first time since 2012 when they were led by then-rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, now a member of the Ravens. Washington’s defense is overwhelmed by Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s relentless ground attack.
