player. 57. Chicago Bears. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC. North

The Chicago Bears haven’t had a first-round pick since 2018 as a result of the Khalil Mack trade, so that alone is reason enough to look forward to the 2021 NFL Draft. Another big reason for them to be enthusiastic is that they’ll most certainly be drafting a quarterback in round one.

The Bears traded for Nick Foles this offseason and did not pick up Mitchell Trubisky‘s fifth-year option (I’m as shocked as you are), so the writing is on the wall in the Windy City. Trubisky won’t be the quarterback in Chicago and while Foles is a respectable backup, that’s his ceiling and Jacksonville learned that the hard way.

Chicago could be in a good spot even with Foles on the roster though, as they’ll have someone to mentor the quarterback they do end up landing whether it’s Lawrence, Fields, or whichever no name flies up the draft board next year (Trubisky himself fell into this category in 2017).

The Bears might hover around .500 in 2020, but they’ll be eager to have a first-round pick for the first time since 2018.
