Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is one of us. He wants sports to return too.
We all miss sports and eagerly await the go-ahead for the safe return of college football, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and every other sport that has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Count Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence among those who really, really, really miss football and can’t wait for the sport to open back up and allow him to get back to what he does best.
The rising Clemson junior is coming off two stellar seasons with the Tigers and is one of the leading favorites to win the Heisman in 2020 and the Tigers are the favorites to win the national championship, which would be the second for Lawrence. He’s also a slam-dunk to be the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Clemson’s Twitter account gave a reminder for those who forgot how special the long-haired signal-caller is. No one forgot, but it was a nice couple of minutes to watch the highlight-reel of some of the best plays, throws and moments of his first two years on campus.
BRING FOOTBALL BACK https://t.co/9kgk8zjZbT
— Trevor Lawrence (@Trevorlawrencee) May 12, 2020
Lawrence had a perfect and genuine response when he put in all caps “BRING FOOTBALL BACK.”
He is a man of few words, but when he speaks, we listen, and this is a message where Lawrence really is speaking for all Clemson football fans around the world.
We all miss football and hope it will make a safe return soon. Spring practice was cut short, players are off-campus and some schools are already making plans for a fall semester that’s entirely online, which is leading to some speculation whether some conferences and schools will have full football participation.
Clemson, naturally, is hoping the season won’t be affected and they’ll be able to play all their scheduled games, with or without fans, and they’ll be able to compete for a chance at winning their third national championship under Dabo Swinney.
Much is up in the air right now about the fate of the 2020 college football season. Some schools may start on time while others won’t depending on the outbreak in that state and area. It’s going to be an interesting next few weeks and months as university presidents and Governors will be the ones deciding whether to play games or not.
Let’s hope Lawrence will be able to get on the field for his junior season because if he can’t, we likely have already seen the last of Lawrence in college football.
