We kick off our Raiders players Mount Rushmore with a first round draft pick that ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Tim Brown was selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft, fresh off winning the Heisman Trophy as a member of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

An All-Pro as a kick returner as a rookie, Brown would round into the best wide receiver in the history of the Raiders franchise, setting records in nearly all receiving categories. He finished his career in the Silver and Black with 1,070 receptions, nearly double that of Fred Biletnikoff, who is No. 2 all-time in that category.

Brown was named a Pro Bowler nine times, and was named a member of the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 1990s. A member of both the Pro Football and College Hall of Fames, Brown was crucial to the Raiders getting back to the Super Bowl after a near-20 year drought.

Overall, Brown finished his career with nearly 15,000 yards receiving and 99 touchdowns with the Raiders, two career records that will not be touched any time soon. Not only is he the best wideout in team history, but he is one of the ten-best in NFL history, as he sits No. 7 overall in receiving yards.
