23. Attend the Toilet Paper game at John Brown University

Contrary to popular opinion, college basketball is not just a Division I sport. Some of the smallest schools in the country have unique traditions worth experiencing, including John Brown University.

Located in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, John Brown University’s basketball program participates in the Sooner Athletic Conference, which is part of the NAIA. For those who are unfamiliar with the NAIA, think of it like the NCAA for smaller colleges.

The Golden Eagles have had some notable basketball success, including a national championship at the NAIA level in 2005, but the program also has one of the sport’s most unique rituals. This part of the college basketball bucket list asks you to make it down to Arkansas for John Brown’s first home game of the season.

Make sure you’re armed with a roll of toilet paper because once the Golden Eagles score their first basket of the season fans throw their rolls on the floor. This leads to an immediate technical foul, but the absurdity of seeing fans flinging 2,000 rolls of toilet paper onto a basketball court is certainly unique.

The toilet paper game tradition is one of the most unique you’ll find in college sports. Even if John Brown University is a bit off the beaten path, it will be worth it to find your way down there to experience this bit of escapist level fun.
