Russell Wilson needs receiving targets, but there are better options for the Seahawks than bringing back Josh Gordon.

Josh Gordon seems ready to make another attempt to revive his NFL career, and Seattle would be a natural landing spot for him if he’s reinstated.

The only caveat of such a move, however, is whether the Seattle Seahawks should be interested in a player with such obvious off-the-field struggles that he cannot be counted on for a full season.

Gordon’s potential is just that, realized years ago in his 2013 Pro Bowl season. Since then, he’s been suspended on multiple occasions for drug use and has yet to find a consistent home. As much as Pete Carroll and the Seahawks have a soft spot for Gordon, they ought to look over all of their options.

3. Taylor Gabriel

Gabriel spent the last two seasons on a Bears team that lacked consistent quarterback play. Not to mention his own injuries, and he’s due for a bounce-back year on a team that actually has a capable signal-caller. Gabriel’s time in the Windy City is up, and such a decision became apparent when the Bears signed Ted Ginn, Jr. earlier this offseason For a new home, look no further than Seattle. Gabriel’s speed on the inside would be a valuable weapon for a team which already features the likes of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and his flexibility to also do damage on outside deep routes would be a godsend for Russell Wilson, who often extends plays far beyond their original purpose.

The knock to Gabriel is his health — he played in just nine games last season. Yet, at this point in free agency, the Seahawks would be able to acquire him on the cheap, and he’s far more accountable the Gordon on the gridiron despite their gap in talent. Should he not keep his talents in the NFC North, as some experts have predicted, Seattle should scoop up Gabriel before it’s too late.
