Judging by how their college careers played out, many expected that Damontre Moore would be a player who would have a similar career path — though maybe not quite as great — to what Von Miller did or what Myles Garrett has started to do in their respective careers. But as great as he was in college, it’s never translated quite so to the NFL level.

Though he was a backup as a freshman in the 2010 season, Moore put his stamp on the Aggies season and let the country know he was a player to watch. In limited snaps, he still put up 40 tackles and 5.5 sacks on the season. When he got the starting nod as a sophomore, however, he continued to prove himself with 72 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

Moore continued to progress and showcase his dominance as a junior, earning First-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC honors as he dominated with 85 tackles and 12.5 sacks. He left for the NFL Draft after that season and his 26.5 career sacks with the Aggies ranks sixth in school history, showing just how much of a standout he was in college.

The decline of Moore started as early as the NFL Combine as he slid from a projected first-rounder to a Day 2 pick with poor testing. He ended up being the No. 81 pick in the 2013 draft by the New York Giants. Moore has bounced around the league since, playing with six teams in seven seasons, but has managed only 10 career sacks and may be done after a brief stint in San Francisco in the 2019 season.
