Peyton Manning is trolling Tom Brady hard at The Match
By John Buhler
Peyton Manning was relentless in his trolling of Tom Brady on the golf course.
When “The Match” was first being talked about, we know it wasn’t just going to be a friendly round of golf between Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Though all four men are hall of fame athletes, it’d be a little more gab out of the NFL stars than the ones on the PGA Tour. Of course, Manning held nothing back with the smack talk to Brady.
They were all warming up before playing golf in the rain, with Tiger in his Sunday red. Manning asked Brady if he had a caddy who it would be. The only answer was the correct one, as Brady would want his trusty tight end Rob Gronkowski. Manning would then ponder to the camera who would be the right caddy to get under Brady’s skin. This is when things got interesting.
Manning offered his kid brother Eli Manning as a way to get inside of the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback’s head. He is related to his older brother, so he’s a funny guy in his own right. He also beat Brady in both Super Bowls he played him in. That was expected, but suggesting Nick Foles as a caddy was one that really caused Brady to lose his focus off the practice tee.
Peyton Manning trolls Tom Brady with a Nick Foles comment at The Match
Thus far in his illustrious 20-year NFL career, Brady has won six Super Bowls and been to nine. This surpasses what Manning did in his unbelievable career with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, as he played in four Super Bowls, but only won one at each stop before retiring.
Because Brady and Manning played in the AFC throughout their football rivalry, they never got to face each other in a Super Bowl, only in AFC Championships. While Brady probably expected Peyton to throw an Eli joke in there, he was caught off-guard by the Foles comment. Then again, so were we.
What’s even crazier is Foles, the new Chicago Bears quarterback responded. He’s up to caddy against Brady on behalf of Manning. Now this is getting more ridiculous by the minute.
The younger Manning brother will be a Pro Football Hall of Famer like Peyton and Brady. If his two Super Bowl victories quarterbacking his New York Giants over Brady’s New England Patriots didn’t do the trick, Eli’s newfound Twitter game certainly is the straw that breaks the camel’s back and gets him into Canton. Foles was a backup with the Philadelphia Eagles and still beat Brady.
While it’s not easy to get into Brady’s head, thoughts of Super Bowl LII are a trigger for him.
