The 10 most disappointing, underperforming Yankees teams

Yankees disappointment No. 1: 2003
How do you lose to the freaking Marlins?
Before we get to that, remember what we went over with the 2002 season before.
Now add the acquisition of Hideki Matsui. Kind of a big deal.
Jorge Posada had posted his second-best OPS of his career up to that point (.922). Giambi hit 41 homers, Soriano hit 38, and Posada added 30 more. This was a powerful lineup with a decent rotation, outside of Jeff Weaver.
And come on, when Aaron Boone hit that walk off, who in their right mind thought that the Florida Marlins would beat the New York Yankees?
Of course Carl Pavano was on that 2003 Marlins team. And who the hell is Todd Hollandsworth? Apparently he played 93 games for them. Sure, they had Pudge Rodriguez, but he was not the same Pudge from the 1990s. Luis Castillo’s 4.4 WAR was the second-best on the team. Luis Castillo!
No one ever even heard of Josh Beckett before that complete game shutout to clinch their title.
I mean, the Yankees lost Game 6 at home! Prior to that World Series, they had won 10 consecutive home games in the World Series. Losing at home to the Marlins was impossible.
Instead, they went 1-2 at home that series.
2004 stings more because of the situation, but the Marlins?
