Tom Brady also thinks it’s funny his pants ripped open during The Match

Tom Brady made fun of himself for ripping his pants on national television.

Perhaps the most slept on part of The Match was how relatable Tom Brady suddenly became.

Brady is easy to criticize, whether it be for the numerous cheating scandals with the Patriots to the cowardly explanation of endorsing but not endorsing Donald Trump. Or there’s the whole immunity holy water controversy TB12 sparked last week amid a global pandemic.

But on Sunday, he was something we hadn’t seen him be before: A normal dude.

Specifically, Brady has never been more human than when he bent over to pick up his ball during The Match and ripped a hole in his pants.

It was instantly iconic, whether it was because Brady was seen as human or you were getting glee out of seeing the guy behind the aforementioned things to be critical of ripping the ass of his pants on national television.

Rather than get grumpy about what happened, Brady not only acknowledged that it happened but roasted himself for it.

Sins of the past — whether sports debates or legitimate concerns — don’t just go away because a guy is fun now. But stripping the politics out of the equation, it can’t be emphasized enough that Tom Brady is suddenly having a good time.

Ever since he left New England to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, a new side of Brady is starting to show itself. During his time with the Patriots, we didn’t hear much out of the quarterback and when we did it was stilted and had clearly been censored by the Patriot Way.

Since joining the Bucs, Brady has become a meme, gone on Howard Stern, and can’t seem to stop ripping the Falcons on social media. He even went as far as to troll Atlanta for blowing a 28-3 Super Bowl lead while trash talking Peyton Manning during The Match.

Brady is Fun Guy now, which is corny as hell considering who he is. But Fun Guy Brady is — well, fun — and it’s a new side of a sports icon we still aren’t used to seeing.
