Henry Cejudo doubles down on UFC retirement.

Former two-division UFC champion and Olympic Gold medalist Henry “Triple C” Cejudo has doubled down on his intention to retire following his latest title defense at UFC 249. Cejudo previously held the bantamweight and flyweight title beating out some of the best fighters of all-time in the process.

Following his UFC 249 win over former champion Dominick Cruz, Cejudo announced his retirement from the sport citing his desire to make more money moving forward (if he remained fighting) and told the media he looked to start a family soon.

Many fans didn’t believe his sincerity and felt with the right money he’d come back.

But it looks like those chances are dwindling.

On Sunday the UFC removed Cejudo from the rankings, leaving both divisions he was formerly champion of — vacant. Then, on Monday morning he tweeted out another retirement announcement.

“Thank you for the awesome experiences uncle [Dana White],” Cejudo wrote. “I will forever be grateful. Thank you for taking a chance on the sport that people thought would never make it. To all my coaches and fans [it has] been a wonderful ride. Triple C is out.”

Why does Henry Cejudo want to retire?

Following his win, Cejudo mentioned his desire to start a family and settle down. He believes he cannot devote his life to a family while still fighting. He also mentioned his desire to make more money from fighting, something many fans saw as a signal that his retirement was a negotiation tactic.

It seems the UFC may have called his bluff.

Do you think Cejudo is really retired?
