5 NFL free agents who will star on their new teams

Did the Chicago Bears know what they were doing with Jordan Howard? As it is with most things involving general manager Ryan Pace, it’s all about getting in your own way when you’re building the Monsters of the Midway. Howard spent three years in Chicago, rushing for over 1,000 yards twice and over six touchdowns each season. So why did they get rid of him?
Either way, after a down year with the Philadelphia Eagles, Howard joins Miami Dolphins as the featured back. Though the former UAB and Indiana standout may not be a Pro Bowler again, he’s only entering his age-26 season. Plus, he’s playing for a defensive-minded head coach in Brian Flores, who is trying to get his rebuilding team back into the playoff conversation.
Odds are Miami will try to win with defense, while the offense gradually transitions from distinguished bearded veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick to rookie/future savior of the franchise Tua Tagovailoa. Though Chan Gailey offenses are more prone to throw it than pound the rock, Howard will still get his carries to help chew up clock to hopefully help the Dolphins close out games.
What this really comes down to is Howard will be in a situation in Miami where he can be the guy again. He doesn’t have to worry as much about players like Tarik Cohen or Miles Sanders taking carries from him. A ball control offense will give the Dolphins their best chance at success this season. If Howard rushes for around 1,000 yards again, maybe Miami is a playoff team in 2020?
