LeBron James and Jaylen Brown express outrage over George Floyd’s killing
LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and Bradley Beal are disgusted with George Floyd’s death.
This week, millions of people across the United State have voiced their displeasure with the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. In a video that has gone viral, from an incident over the weekend, a police officer is seen kneeling on Floyd’s neck for several minutes, all while Floyd is saying he can’t breathe. Floyd ended up dying from the incident. Police were reportedly responding to a nonviolent offense — a “forgery in progress” before engaging with Floyd.
The backlash and outrage were swift, with many notable public figures expressing disgust over what happened. While four members of the police department have been fired, there’s been a call for more action to be taken.

James took to Instagram to let his 65 million followers know how sick he is with the police’s behavior. Adding to his point, he continued to show his support for former NFL starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick. James has been vocal on issues of social justice in the past, organizing a Miami Heat team photo in hoodies after the death of Trayvon Martin and wearing a shirt that said “I can’t breathe” during warmups after the death of Eric Garner.
James wasn’t the only NBA star to make a statement online, with Jaylen Brown also taking to IG to get involved. The Celtics’ standout joined the #JusticeForFloyd movement with his post.
The two were also joined by Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal. Beal, who was averaging 30.5 points per game this campaign, couldn’t believe what he saw on the video.
The streets in Minneapolis have been filled with protestors this week, with police using tear gas to disperse protestors on Tuesday night. Floyd’s death is nothing short of devastating for everyone involved.
