Mac McClung is transferring to Texas Tech.
Georgetown transfer Mac McClung is transferring to Texas Tech to play for Chris Beard and the Red Raiders. Former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes deserves an assist though.
Last week, McClung announced his finalists on Twitter that drew the attention of Mahomes who did his part to try and recruit him to his alma mater.
Six days later, McClung announced he’s transferring to play for the Red Raiders so being recruited, albeit via Twitter, from the reigning Super Bowl MVP is paying dividends for Texas Tech basketball.

BYU, Auburn, Memphis, USC, Arkansas and Wake Forest were the schools in the running before McClung chose to finish his college basketball career at Texas Tech.
He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining. He’ll seek a waiver to be eligible immediately.
The 6-foot-2 combo guard led Georgetown in scoring last season as a sophomore with 15.7 points per game in 26.8 minutes while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 32.3 percent on 3-pointers. He also chipped in with an average of 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
McClung brings the ability to make plays with the ball in his hands. That’s something Texas Tech lacked last season after Jarrett Culver made the leap to the NBA. McClung can create off the dribble for himself but can also be a facilitator.
Chances are he’ll be asked to do more of that in Beard’s system than he did the last two years under Patrick Ewing at Georgetown.
He’ll also be asked to play a lot tougher defense to fit with Beard’s program idealogy.
I can’t wait to see Mac McClung play for Chris Beard. Should be interesting.

Texas Tech didn’t have guys who could make plays off the bounce last year. Should be different this season in Lubbock.
A former three-star recruit, McClung also brings to Lubbock a reputation as an internet sensation. With nearly three-quarters of a million Instagram followers, McClung has developed a large audience that’s grown to love his highlight-reel dunks and massive scoring outbursts.
Beard gets the credit for landing McClung and Texas Tech should be a great team with him next season, but don’t forget to give Mahomes the assist for playing a small part in his landing in Lubbock.
