San Francisco 49ers x-factors: WR Deebo Samuel

One of the most explosive players on the San Francisco 49ers is wide receiver Deebo Samuel. A second-round pick in 2019, Samuel had a good rookie year, catching 57 passes for 802 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season.

Samuel really came on in the playoffs due to his ability to be a weapon both in the passing game and rushing game. Opposing teams had a difficult time containing Samuel’s speed, which could set him up for a ton of success next season.

It is reasonable to expect Samuel will get a bigger role in the 49ers’ offense next season, which could lead to him having a breakout fantasy campaign. The departure of Emmanuel Sanders in free agency opens up more targets to be absorbed and plenty of them should go Samuel’s way.

If the 49ers can get a big leap forward from Samuel this season their offense has the potential to even more dynamic than it was in 2019. If Samuel can’t handle the added responsibilities it could prove problematic for the passing game.
