2. Best college football players before Twitter: Vince Young, QB, Texas

Vince Young was supposed to be the next Vick. That didn’t quite pan out in the NFL, but he surpassed anything Vick did in college. Young led the deciding drive in what is likely the best college football game of all time. Which in turn led to one of the most iconic photos in college football history. Twitter would have exploded.

But before the 2006 Rose Bowl, Young was a stellar quarterback. He became the first quarterback in the history of college football to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. He would have one the Heisman but for the previously mentioned Bush.

With all due respect to Colt McCoy, who is somehow still playing professional football, Texas has never quite been able to replace Vince Young. Over his career, Young threw for more than 6,000 yards and rushed for 3,127 yards. He was a force throwing the ball and running it.

One of the best things about this highlight, Young just gently puts a Texas A&M player to sleep. A stiff arm that was just a “no, no thanks.” Silly.

So his game tape would have been magical and all over Twitter. What about VY the man?

He seems to have settled down some as he moved out of the NFL spotlight, but if his exploits early in his career are any indication, he would have been something else on Twitter. He absolutely seems like the guy who would let you know if you stepped over the line. He also has put his foot in his mouth, a time or two. (Hi, Dream Team!) He would have been so much fun.
