Yesterday, NSAC approved two Top Rank boxing shows to appear on ESPN. There are more events to be considered shortly. Here are the details.

On Wednesday, May 27, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) approved two June boxing dates under the Top Rank banner. This signals the return of live boxing, and there are more shows on the horizon.

Boxingscene.com reported the news of NSAC’s decision yesterday in the early afternoon. The two approved shows will be on Tuesday, June 9, and Thursday, June 11. Both will be televised on ESPN and take place in Las Vegas.

The June 9 card will feature WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson (13-0, 7 KOs) against Felix Caraballo (13-1-2, 9 KOs). Boxrec.com has that bout listed at the super featherweight division.

The other notable name on the card is undefeated super featherweight Mikaela Mayer (12-0, 5 KOs), who will face Helen Joseph (17-4-2, 10 KOs). No other names are listed on this card at the moment.

The June 11 event will be headlined by Jessie Magdaleno (27-1, 18 KOs) against Yenifel Vicente (36-4-2, 28 KOs). Both boxers are coming off wins and are slated to fight at the super featherweight limit. No other names have been officially added to the event.

Other boxing events scheduled for the month of June

The other Top Rank boxing dates that are anticipated are on June 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30, according to Boxingscene.com. Those dates aren’t official, but will likely be confirmed by NSAC, assuming all goes well in their first two shows.

Writer Dan Rafael included names to headline those unofficial dates on his Facebook boxing schedule.  Notable boxers mentioned are Jose Pedraza, Mikkel LesPierre, and Alex Saucedo.

Outside of Top Rank, ESPN Deportes will air an event from the Dominican Republic on Saturday, May 30. The card is headlined by super flyweights Norbelto Jimenez (29-9-5, 16 KOs) and Eliezer Aquino (21-4-1, 14 KOs).

On Wednesday, June 6, super welterweight Carlos Molina will be fighting in Mexico, and on Tuesday, June 12, fellow super welterweight Jack Culcay will be competing in his home country of Germany.

Many of these dates are still in flux. Some could be scratched, and others could be added. It looks like a nice boxing re-opening, but details are tentative. It will be interesting to see how Top Rank’s first two events fair in terms of logistics and television ratings.
