Fantasy Football: Players to avoid in 2020
As the Fantasy Football Season approaches, we all scour the NFL for players that we believe will exceed their expectations as well as players to avoid. We search for players that will have breakout seasons. These are the players that will carry us to the coveted Fantasy Football Championship.
We search for players that will meet or far exceed their draft position. Every season there are players drafted in the first several rounds that exceed their expectations. See: Christian McCaffrey or Dalvin Cook last year. Two significant players that outperformed where you selected them in your draft, no matter how high you drafted them. The value each of them returned was far greater than anything you would’ve expected. On the flip-side, there were many players selected early in drafts that let you down big-time. Ever heard of David Johnson, Odell Beckham Jr, Saquon Barkley, TY Hilton, etc. Some of those players were derailed by injuries, which isn’t necessarily their fault, but others just couldn’t get the job done. Obviously, I can’t predict injuries. No one can. It’s part of the game. But, I can predict who will be over-hyped and over-drafted in leagues and these are the players to avoid. These players might cost your team a chance at competing for the fantasy championship.
I am going to highlight 10 players (2 QBs, 4 RBs and 4 WRs) who will be busts this year. Players to avoid having on your team if you are selecting them at their current draft position. Players that will be drafted too high, and might cost your team a championship because of where you took them. We aren’t talking about someone like a 2019 Lamar Jackson who was drafted late in drafts and went on to have a historic season, or a highly touted rookie like Tee Higgins who you draft in the last couple rounds as a flyer in case they have an outstanding rookie season. We are talking about players drafted in the first couple rounds who you expect to be able to count on for consistent fantasy production every Sunday.
Let’s start with some Quarterbacks.
