3. Jared Goff

This is a massive year in Jared Goff’s career. It’s an exaggeration to call it a make-or-break season for the former Cal star, but 2020 will go a long way towards defining the trajectory for his future career.

McVay deserves a ton of credit for rescuing Goff from his catastrophic rookie season, but he needs to help him take another step forward. It’s time for Goff to show that he can be more than just a system quarterback.

He needs to complete more than 62.9 percent of his passes in this offense. Pushing closer to the 70 percent mark might cost the Rams a few big plays, but it would allow them to move the ball more efficiently. That’s the true hallmark of a vintage McVay offense.

Obviously he also needs to cut down on the turnovers. Turning the ball over 16 times a season ago was a clear sign of regression for Goff. McVay keeps things easy for his quarterback. There’s no reason for Goff to reach double-digit interceptions again in 2020. If he does, it may be time for the Rams to start evaluating other options under center.
