Dante Fowler Jr. wasn’t the most consistent edge rusher in football last year, but he was the Rams’ second leading sack artist behind Donald. Letting him go in free agency means Los Angeles needs to find a new partner for Donald at defensive end.

Brockers is the most consistent option available to the coaching staff. He’s never going to lead the league in sacks, but he should be able to provide more than the three sacks he posted in 2019. Flirting with double-digits is something Brockers should be able to do on a regular basis.

Remember, Donald’s mere presence on the defensive line means that opposing offensive lines can’t really double-team any of the Rams’ edge rushers on a regular basis. That means Brockers gets to work against single blocks on the vast majority of his rushing attempts.

2020 needs to be a breakout campaign for Brockers. He’s spent his entire career teasing the franchise with his prodigious potential. It’s time for him to turn that potential into production. This may be Brockers’ last chance to become a star in Los Angeles.
