4. Georgia, 67 five-star recruits in college football since 2000

Despite only having six national titles between Georgia and Georgia Tech, the state of Georgia produces some of the best high school football talent in the country.

The Peach State has given college football 67 five-star prospects and 28 of them chose to be a Georgia Bulldog. Only one chose to attend Georgia Tech but that one happens to be Calvin Johnson, one of the greatest wide receivers the game of football has ever seen.

Like Alabama though, perhaps the most prolific player and only one to win the Heisman Trophy chose to go out of state. Cam Newton, who is the 60th best prospect in Georgia history, chose to play his football at Florida, before eventually finding his way to Auburn via transfer.

Other names worth mentioning to come out of Georgia include Robert Nkemdiche, Eric Berry, Nick Chubb, and two Heisman favorites in Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields.

Lawrence and Fields were in the same recruiting class and are the No. 2 and No. 3 highest-rated recruits in Georgia history. They once battled to be the premier high school football recruit, now after Ohio State and Clemson met in the college football playoff last season, they have also battled it out on the field. Lawrence of course got the upper hand, defeating the Buckeyes to go to his second college football playoff national championship game in as many years of being at Clemson.

This season will see much of the same from both of these elite college quarterbacks. They will be fighting for their team’s position in the college football playoff, as well as the coveted Heisman Trophy.
