Dodgers disappointment No. 9: 1966 season

Record: 95-67

Playoff Result: Lost WS 4-0

Los Angeles won the National League by 1.5 games over the San Francisco Giants. This season would be the third and final time that Sandy Koufax would take home the CY Young Award. The Dodger ace would pitch on the last day of the season to help his team win the pennant.

The Dodgers were no match for the Baltimore Orioles, who swept the Series. In Game 1, Baltimore reliever Moe Drabowsky allowed just one hit and struck out 11 Dodgers after replacing starter Dave McNally.

Koufax started Game 2, but he was no match for Jim Palmer, who threw a four-hit shutout. Both Games 3 and 4 were battles, only to see the Orioles win the by one run each time. The Orioles won the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

It was a World Series to forget for Los Angeles, who managed to score only two runs the entire Series. The Orioles pitchers did their work by shutting out the Dodgers for the next 33 innings. This World Series would mark the end of a Dodger dynasty, with their many postseason appearances dating back to 1947.
