Searching for the next Philip Lindsay: 2020 UDFA mock draft round two

2.04 – Salvon Ahmed (RB – SF)
Salvon Ahmed has the type of electric track speed NFL teams often covet in their change of pace backs. He profiled as someone who could be a potential day two pick prior to the 2019 season, but his failure to improve by any tangible measure in the vision and football IQ departments as a senior caused him to slip out of the draft altogether.
Of course, a prospect with reported track speed bombing the 40 yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine did not help matters, but one could tell from his 2019 tape that Ahmed was tracking towards being a day three pick at best. He is an interesting fit in San Francisco for a team that will not need him to compete for the starting role. He has the upside to one day force his way into a committee, but may be utilized more as a space back and special teamer to start his career.
There is a chance that the 49ers attempt to stash him on the practice squad as they already have four veteran running backs, and fellow UDFA JaMycal Hasty at the position. Ahmed is an explosive back with good contact balance, but will need to be schemed for early on in his career. He is an interesting taxi squad stash in ocean deep leagues.
