2. Moving for O.J. Howard

The arrival of Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay has Buccaneers fans more excited than ever before. His acquisition didn’t engender the same feelings with fellow tight end O.J. Howard. He’s the player who will likely lost the most snaps and targets due to Gronkowski’s arrival.

It’s very likely that either Howard or Cameron Brate is going to be traded at some point during training camp. The Cowboys should move quickly to get to the front of the line for Howard. He’s just the sort of pass catching tight end that can elevate their passing game from good to great.

Blake Jarwin is certainly a superior blocker, but he’s not in Howard’s class as a receiving threat. The Cowboys offense would like to be able to stretch the field from the tight end position. Doing so would allow CeeDee Lamb to work against single coverage in the slot on a high percentage of his snaps.

The Buccaneers aren’t just going to give Howard away. He isn’t a good in-line blocker, but he has the potential to develop into one of the top receiving tight ends in the game. The Cowboys would be smart to dangle a third round pick for his services. That price would allow the Buccaneers to recoup serious value. It would also give Dak Prescott another valuable weapoin to wield in the passing game.
