4. Washington Redskins

The Redskins are hoping another former Buckeye they selected in the first round last year will inspire a turnaround in Ron Rivera’s first season as head coach.

However, Dwayne Haskins produced little last season to indicate he is capable of authoring such a revival. The Redskins have an intriguing group of pass-catchers, but it is a young group that may take some time to mesh and realize their potential.

If that is the case, it could be another chastening year for Haskins resulting in the Redskins picking near the top of the draft and putting them in prime position to select Fields.

Should such a scenario come to pass then Washington is likely to have a difficult time resisting the urge to bail on Haskins and select Fields, in a situation that would be akin to the one the Arizona Cardinals faced with Josh Rosen and Kyler Murray.

Fields is not the runner Murray is, but the extra dimension he adds with his legs makes him the ideal quarterback for an offense that recently drafted versatile talents in Antonio Gibson and Antonio Gandy-Golden.

The Redskins’ rebuild may well be a long one given how far behind they were in the NFC East last season. However, they could rapidly accelerate the timeline by drafting Fields.
