3. Chicago Bears

The Bears, having declined Mitchell Trubisky’s fifth-year option, appear to be betting on Nick Foles harnessing the playoff magic that they were victims of in the 2018 season for a full year in 2020.

That is no sure thing and, for the long term, it is obvious the Bears need a new answer at the quarterback position.

Chicago’s 8-8 record last year indicated the Bears are a team that is not far away from again contending as they did in 2018, but they need a quarterback who can elevate the offense to compete in the NFC.

Fields has the skill set to do just that and, were he to end up in Chicago, he would be landing with a team that has talented skill-position players on offense such as Allen Robinson, David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen.

Matt Nagy has been unable to get the best out of Trubisky but the potential is there for him to enjoy significantly greater success with a prospect who has already demonstrated more consistency at the collegiate level than Trubisky did.

With Nagy calling the plays and the Bears boasting a defense blessed with more than enough talent to return to the ranks of the league’s elite, Fields could be the final piece of the puzzle for Chicago.
