2. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are financially committed to Teddy Bridgewater for the next three years, but how long their on-field commitment lasts remains to be seen.

Bridgewater showed promising signs in going 5-0 with the New Orleans Saints last season when Drew Brees was out of the line-up through injury. However, he would need to string together a full season of such success to have any hope of being considered the future as well as the present at quarterback for the Panthers.

The more likely turn of events is that Bridgewater quickly becomes a high-priced backup for a rebuilding Panthers team most expect to be picking towards the top of the draft in 2021.

With Matt Rhule in charge in Carolina, the transition for Fields could potentially be very smooth due to the head coach’s familiarity with the college game having been hired following a successful spell with Baylor.

Rhule could smooth things out for Fields by utilizing similar concepts to those employed at Ohio State in his opening season in the pros.

A coach-quarterback combination of Rhule and a comfortable Fields is one that would serve as a recipe for a speedy route back to the contention in the NFC South for a team that has experienced a rapid decline following their Super Bowl 50 loss.
