Of all the positions in fantasy football, I firmly believe finding a quality tight end is the most difficult to accomplish for managers.

It has traditionally been a thin position in fantasy football and there usually is not a bunch of selections to choose from after about three or four names. Luckily, the tight end draft class has gained some much-needed depth.

In 2019, we saw the emergence of some true offensive scoring talent by tight ends such as Mark Andrews and Austin Hooper to name a couple. Aside from those two guys, there are a handful of others who we should all be on the lookout for heading into the 2020 season.

In this segment, I will focus on five tight ends who are worth drafting on your rosters if you are unable to land one of the more prominent names at the position.

Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles Rams

The tight end in Los Angeles finished the 2019 campaign as TE8 as he hauled in 69 passes for 734 yards, and three touchdowns. Tyler Higbee came on especially during the final quarter of the year while the Rams were desperately hanging in the NFC playoff race.

From Week 13 on, Higbee was the best tight end in football as he caught 43 targets for 522 yards and a pair of scores while averaging 17.1 fantasy points per game in half-point formats.

Most of his production came during this span and keep in mind he was able to do this while all of Jared Goff‘s top receiving options were still present in Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Brandin Cooks. The good news for Higbee is Cooks has now moved on to Houston.

With Cooks out of the picture, the number of targets Higbee should receive with the Rams in 2020 should see a bit of a bump. Higbee did earn more targets than Cooks in 2019 (89 vs. 72) which only strengthens the argument that he will continue to produce at a high level for this upcoming season.

Higbee is no slouch and should be drafted as a top tight end in all formats for this season while the Rams look to continue to maintain a heavy pass attack once again.
