Mike Gesicki – Miami Dolphins

Mike Gesicki‘s name was more of an afterthought for all of 2018 and most of 2019. Much like his colleague Tyler Higbee in Los Angeles, Gesicki finally put himself on the fantasy map during the last month or so of the 2019 regular season.

Gesicki was one of the few bright spots on Miami’s impotent offense last year as they averaged 19.1 points per game which ranked 25th in the league. He finished last season as TE11 overall as he caught 51 passes for 570 yards and five scores while averaging 6.9 fantasy points per contest. While those numbers aren’t particularly eye-popping, the bulk of those numbers occurred during the final five weeks of the regular season.

From Week 12 on, he was TE5 and produced around 11.5 fantasy points every week in that span. This type of production wasn’t a fluke and he will likely be able to replicate similar numbers in 2020.

During the offseason, the Dolphins have so far made improvements to their offense. They acquired both Jordan Howard and Matt Breida to add more dimension to their backfield. With the arrival of these two talented backs, there will be less focus centered on Gesicki. This in turn will make it easier for him to get open and receive passes from either Ryan Fitzpatrick or rookie Tua Tagovailoa.

Aside from DeVante Parker, Miami will have to rely heavily on Gesicki in the passing department to help the offense successfully get down the field in 2020.

I expect big things from the third-year tight end out of Penn State as the Dolphins look to right the ship in 2020.
