9. Underrated Raiders: Greg Biekert, Linebacker

To find a real productive middle linebacker has proven pretty tough for the Raiders as of late, but from 1993 through 2001, they had one they could certainly lean on. Greg Biekert was a tackling machine during his time in the Silver and Black, becoming one of the more dominant linebackers in recent memory, and making what should have been one of the bigger plays in team history.

Biekert led the Raiders in tackles for four straight seasons, as he was an absolute beast from his middle linebacker position. Still No. 2 in team history in terms of solo tackles, Biekert fell on the Tom Brady “fumble” during the Tuck Rule game, apparently sealing what would have been a trip to the AFC title game for the Raiders.

Well, unfortunately for the Raiders, we all know how that turned out, but in terms of Biekert’s entire career with the team, few have done it better since. Unfortunately, Biekert was never recognized as a Pro Bowler, or All-Pro during his NFL career, which is a shame considering the kind of player, and leader he was.
