6. Underrated Raiders:  6. Derek Carr, Quarterback

Coming in at No. 6 on our list is the Raiders’ current starting quarterback Derek Carr. Since being the team’s second round pick back in 2014, Carr has been the team’s starter and through his first six seasons in the league, he has rewritten the Raiders record book in terms of passing categories.

The Raiders all-time leader in passing yards, Carr has been named to multiple Pro Bowls, and in 2016, he nearly won the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award. Had he not broken his leg on Christmas Eve against the Indianapolis Colts, the Raiders may have made a run to the Super Bowl, which would completely change the narrative surrounding him.

Throughout it all, Raider Nation has remained divided on Carr, and it seems like every offseason they clamor for the team to get rid of him. The bottom line is he is a 29-year old quarterback coming off back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons, and now that he has consistency with the coaching staff, he could just be entering his prime.
