NCAA basketball: 15 college basketball uniforms that are fashion disasters
By Adam Childs
Ranking the 15 ugliest NCAA basketball uniforms.
It may have started with Oregon but it has spread throughout the whole sports world. Uniforms have always been important, but they have slowly moved into a recruiting tool. The Ducks knew they needed to do something to get high schoolers to want to come the Northwest and with Phil Knight on their side, they upped the uniform game.
Teams then needed to keep up so they joined the party and changed their uniform style. Nike who outfits Oregon was all too eager to oblige to those requests. Adidas and Under Armour followed suit and before you knew it we were getting all sorts of crazy uniforms.
Some teams had major upgrades in their uniform sets, while others came up lacking. The styles that some of these designers thought looked great just didn’t translate to the court. Some may have liked them, but a lot of fans just weren’t interested in these crazy looks.
It hasn’t been all bad, as some teams still look great as we recently highlighted the top 15 uniforms in the game right now. Headlined by North Carolina, the uniforms on the list are great looks.
But with every great look, there are some really bad looks also. Sometimes they even come from the same school. At least we have been spared from the highlighter (see Baylor) color looks lately. At least for the most part.
For this list, we tried to stay with the major conferences unless one just jumped out at us that was especially bad and there was one. We take a look at the 15 ugliest uniforms in college basketball from this past year.
