6. Ugly NCAA basketball uniforms: Northwestern Wildcats

Look, Northwestern is known mostly for its academics and not their athletics. Especially their basketball team who has made just one NCAA tournament appearance in their history. I can understand why they tinker with their uniforms a bit.

They don’t have the history of Duke, North Carolina, and Michigan State already on this list. They need to make their school pop a little bit with their uniforms and at times they have done a great job of it.

I like their black uniforms with gold lettering they have pulled out and I even like when they have worn grey on occasion. It isn’t a bad look and when your uniforms are just ok, then why not try something new.

But in trying something new they pulled out this garish look on Senior night. Hey, they won in them so who knows they may pull them back out again, but they shouldn’t.

This whole uniform is a mess. At least the collar and sleeves are outlined but it is in such a light shade of purple that it almost looks pink. Either way, it is not a good look. It looks like they washed their uniforms with different colors and it faded.

Even if you are ok with that, what are they doing with the font and color of WIldcats on the chest? I don’t even know really what to say about it. They use the gradient look from white to the light purple and I just don’t get it.

The whole jersey is a mess, the words, the colors, just everything. Yes, you may need to update the Northwestern uniforms to get them more excited but this was a huge miss. Please don’t wear these again.
