Washington football: 5 best seasons in Huskies’ history, ranked

4. Washington football wins the Rose Bowl in 2000.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Washington football had another fantastic season. Under head coach Rick Neuheisel, the Washington football team won 11 games and proved itself as one of the best teams in the country that season.
After starting the season with an easy win over Idaho, the No. 15 Huskies then hosted the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes. In what was one of the biggest challenges Washington was likely to face all season, the Huskies found a way to come out on top, winning 34-29.
Following a close call against Colorado, the No. 6 Huskies ran into trouble against the No. 20 Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon. Washington’s offense stumbled and the Huskies were unable to slow the Ducks’ offense enough. As a result, Washington’s then-perfect season was blemished.
Washington would, however, bounce back. The Huskies responded immediately by beating No. 23 Oregon State and then rattling off six more Pac-10 victories.
After winning a share of the Pac-10 in 2000, splitting the conference title with Oregon State and Oregon, the No. 4 Huskies earned an invitation to face the No. 14 Purdue Boilermakers in the Rose Bowl. Washington was able to come away with a smooth and easy victory in the bowl game and ended the year with an 11-1 record, a Rose Bowl trophy, and a share of the Pac-10 title.
