Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks calls out NFL for its statement on George Floyd
Eric Kendrick is among those rolling their eyes at the NFL’s weak statement on George Floyd’s death.
You can add Minnesota Vikings veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks to the long list of folks who were not happy with the NFL‘s statement following George Floyd’s death.
With unrest and protests taking place throughout the United States, Kendricks is calling on the league to do more than just release a “both sides” statement and actually step up.
Kendricks had a not so subtle message for Roger Goodell and the other NFL higher-ups, calling them out as a whole in the process.
Eric Kendricks and Vikings hoping to facilitate change
Those are the words of a young man who is furious with Floyd’s death, and how the league he plays for has decided to handle things at the same time.
In his follow-up tweets, Kendricks said the Vikings have been having open dialogues and are committed to working with local organizations to ‘facilitate change.’ However, he’s still calling for the NFL to do something as well.
“But we want answers at the league level,” he wrote on Twitter. “That’s where change can happen, and we’ve seen none. Because right now, it seems like nothing. And nothing is unacceptable.
“You can’t bring in people to teach us how we should interact with police but not work towards changing the behavior of the police themselves. Silence will not make this go away.”
Hendricks arrived to Minnesota in 2015 and has been a defensive mainstay for the Vikings ever since. He’s appeared in 74 games, making 70 starts. He’s recorded at least 100 tackles in each of the past four campaigns. As strong as he’s been on the field, he’s now determined to bring change and make even more of an impact off it.
