Week 9: Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers

Getting an NFC Championship Game rematch is great and seeing it in primetime is even better. This is exactly what fans will experience in Week 9 when Green Bay flies across the country to take on San Francisco on a Thursday night.

This is a game that will have massive importance in the NFC playoff picture and the Packers have to hope it goes better for them than the last two meetings did. The 49ers blew out Green Bay in both games, taking advantage of mismatches in the trenches to win convincingly.

It is unclear how much has changed this season, but the contest is a must-win for the Packers’ psyche. Getting blown out in Santa Clara for a third straight contest would add a mental block for Green Bay which could make it even harder for them to beat the 49ers.

This game would also feature Aaron Rodgers looking to showcase that he still has the skill to beat top-flight competition, a question that was raised when Green Bay took Jordan Love in the draft. Jimmy Garoppolo could also use a big performance to silence critics who claim he has been carried by a strong supporting cast.
