4. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons really need to find a point guard capable of making life easier on tehir other scorers. Derrick Rose cannot be entrusted to initiate the team’s offense for years into the future.

That’s why grabbing Hayes in this year’s draft would make so much sense for Detroit. Playing behind Rose would allow the young point guard to slowly integrate himself into the team’s rotation. It would also allow the team to reduce Rose’s workload as the regular season progresses.

The pick and roll combination of Hayes and Blake Griffin also sets up nicely for success. Griffin lacks the explosive athleticism that defined his time with the Clippers, but he still represents a reasonable scoring option due to his expanded shooting range. Working with a crafty ball handler like Hayes could open up some easier scoring opportunities for the veteran big.

The Pistons might prefer to nab a more natural scorer with their first round pick, but coming away with Hayes would be a terrific consolation prize. He could play big minutes for Detroit right away and grow into a valuable building block for their future.
