4. New York Knicks

The Knicks like what they have in Mitchell Robinson at the center position but he’s not a guy they can throw the ball to in the post. Drafting Wiseman would give their offense a much-needed boost in terms of efficiency.

The idea of building around a young corps of R.J. Barrett and Wiseman should appeal to the team’s front office. Both players have some troubling flaws, but each has the ceiling of a perennial All-Star. They aren’t a perfect pairing, but the high ceiling that both players possess would give the Knicks a chance to make real progress in the Eastern Conference.

Wiseman also seems to be a prospect that can stand up to the scrutiny that is playing for New York. He endured some issues during his collegiate time at Memphis, but he never seemed to be overly concerned with public perception. That type of attitude could serve him well in the NBA.

The Knicks might prefer to grab their point guard of the future in this draft, but Wiseman could easily be their selection if the value doesn’t line up for them to address that position. They’re too far away from contention to draft for need. If Wiseman is the best available player when their pick comes up they shouldn’t hesitate to draft him.
