Penn State football schedule 2020: Predicting every Nittany Lions game
Penn State football should sprint out to a 4-0 record.
Sept. 5 vs Kent State
This one should be over before halftime. It might take a drive or two for Penn State’s offense to shake off the offseason rust but that’s why you schedule a MAC opponent Week 1. Expect Micah Parsons and the rest of the Penn State defense to have a field day and to put some points of their own on the scoreboard. Penn State, 59-6.
Sept. 12 at Virginia Tech
After playing in-state rival Pittsburgh the last four seasons, the Nittany Lions hit the upgrade button and take on the Virginia Tech Hokies. This is the first time these two teams have ever played and originally was set to take place in the 2022 season. The Hokies are primed for a run at the ACC title game and will hang with the Nittany Lions early. But the speed on both sides of the ball for Penn State allows them to pull away and escape Blacksburg with a win. Penn State, 34-20.
Sept. 19 vs San Jose State
Penn State has gotten through their non-conference schedule without a loss in three consecutive seasons and will extend that streak in 2020. Both the offense and defense for Penn State will take care of business, as we should see the second-team offense as much as we see the first team. With this one being over early, fully expect the Lawn Boys to gash the Spartans’ defense on the way to the Nittany Lions third win of the season. Penn State, 48-10.
Sept. 26 vs Northwestern
Penn State takes on Northwestern in its conference opener of the 2020 season. Two years ago, the Wildcats made the Big Ten title game but in 2019, the Wildcats finished 3-9 with just one conference win. Northwestern should bounce back this season but they’re no match for this Penn State team, especially at Beaver Stadium. Penn State has won seven of the last nine meetings, including their most recent in 2017, and will pick up their first conference win in as many games. Penn State, 38-13.
