Dalvin Cook to the Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams have lost a lot of talent over the past couple of offseasons, including two big names at the skill positions in 2020. Brandin Cooks was traded to the Houston Texans, while top running back Todd Gurley signed a one-year, prove-it deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Les Snead hopes to replace Gurley with a committee at running back. The returning Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson are in the mix. Both are young backs who have some ability, but neither of them could average more than 3.8 yards per carry.

Rookie second-round pick Cam Akers looks like the most intriguing option and should be the favorite to unseat Brown as the starter in 2020, but nothing is guaranteed for the hard-nosed, high-upside Florida State product.

The Rams have to stick with Jared Goff, for better or for worse, after handing him $110 million in guaranteed money early in the 2019 season before he went on to produce a ghastly season.

Sean McVay, Snead, and Goff are all feeling the pressure after going from being the NFC Champions back to the Jeff Fisher zone. And with the Arizona Cardinals improving, it could get worse for the Rams in the NFC West.

Dalvin Cook could be the Rams’ counter to the Cardinals’ acquisition of “Nuk” Hopkins. He can take a load off Goff and be a game-changer for this offense.
