Clemson, Ohio State are co-favorites to win the College Football Playoff.

Look for Clemson football to face Ohio State football in the national title game.

In the latest College Football Playoff odds, the Clemson Tigers and the Ohio State Buckeyes lead the way as co-favorites. SuperBookUSA has both juggernaut football programs at 11/4 to win the national championship. Clemson had been a slight favorite over Ohio State for much of the offseason, but now these two blue-bloods are viewed equally by sportsbooks.

The Tigers and the Buckeyes are followed by three SEC teams with the Alabama Crimson Tide at 5/1, the Georgia Bulldogs at 8/1 and the Florida Gators at 12/1. The Oklahoma Sooners are up next with 16/1, with a slew of teams after them at 30/1 in the Texas A&M Aggies, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Oregon Ducks, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Texas Longhorns.

Latest CFP odds have Clemson, Ohio State as co-favorites to win it all.

Stadium’s Brett McMurphy tweeted out Monday night a list of all 26 teams with 200/1 or better odds of winning a national title in SuperBookUSA’s eyes. Outside of the top-10 best odds to win it all are the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers at 40/1, the Michigan Wolverines and the Wisconsin Badgers at 50/1 and the USC Trojans at 60/1. Everyone else on the list is at 100/1 or worse.

What these latest College Football Playoff odds are telling us is important. It’s crystal clear in sportsbooks’ eyes that Clemson and Ohio State are getting in, as well as one of three SEC teams. Alabama has the best odds of the trio of serious contenders in its conference, although the gap between the Crimson Tide and the likes of Georgia and Florida isn’t that big.

While a second SEC team might have a legitimate shot of getting in, it also seems like Oklahoma is slated to get back to the playoff and lose in the national semifinals again. Don’t worry, the Sooners are used to it, although a rival program like Texas could give them a run for their money. And if the Pac-12 wants to join the postseason party this year, its best shot is with Oregon and then USC.

If any program is getting too much love by the sportsbooks, it would have to be Texas A&M. This might be the year the Aggies approach 10 regular-season wins again, but who really thinks they’re the second-best team in their own division? We’re sleeping on Auburn and LSU a bit in the SEC West here. They can be trusted more than Texas A&M to navigate a tough SEC West slate.

As for any program not getting enough respect in these latest playoff odds, it would have to be Wisconsin. Favored to get to Indianapolis again, one would think the Badgers’ odds would more closely resemble that of Penn State’s than Michigan’s. Then again, perhaps the sportsbooks don’t think the Big Ten West will ever win a conference championship. It still hasn’t happened before.

Clemson and Ohio State are co-favorites to win the College Football Playoff as they should be.
